FMEA - Failure modes and Effect analysis is a technique to identify the potential problems in system design or process by examining the effects of lower level failures. Based on the result actions are taken for the problems/failures to reduce the re occurrence and reduce the risk if it occurs again.
Failure modes are any potential or actual problem/defect in design or process.
Effect Analysis is study of the effects of the failure/problems.
Steps for FMEA
- Identify the effect of each failure by failure mode analysis and identifiy single failure points that are critical.
- Rank each failure and its probability of occurrence
- Take actions
