Strategy Statement:

Whenever possible, turn these questions into ‘positives’. You might have been displeased with your performance, but what did you learn from it?

Sample Response:

There are times when we end our day or week and think about the missed opportunities that we encountered during that time. Verbal clues that we didn’t pick up on, creative notions that went unmentioned, times when the right things weren’t said and times when the wrong things were. This inventory of personal accountability is always a valuable exercise, and I keep in mind that my successes are no more important than less-than-successes. I was once so excited about a project that I didn’t allow for room to consider anything (or anybody) that was less than excited. As a result, although the project went ahead, I had risked the disenfranchisement of individuals whose support was going to be critical to the project’s success.
