There are times when we work without close supervision or support to get the job done. Tell us about a time when you found yourself in such a situation and how things turned out.

Strategy Statement:

This used to be the “Do you work better alone or with others?” question, and is designed to not only go into more detail (getting away from the one-or-two word answers) but to give you the opportunity for a success story.

Sample Response:

I was assigned a project based on my background, education, and genuine interest. I was informed that the project would be my own to develop.

The reason I was working without supervision was because there was a implicit trust not only in my abilities, but in the fact that if I had any questions I would seek out the proper individual. Because I was made aware of why I was chosen for the project and why it was felt that the work could be accomplished without close supervision, I took great pride in my product. The project was developed ahead of schedule, much to the employer’s satisfaction.
