Rarely would I ever go ‘over’ my direct supervisor. Whenever possible, I would make sure that if it was ever done, that it would be with the full knowledge of the direct supervisor.
I would also make certain that my supervisor’s supervisor knew that my supervisor was aware of what I was doing. The exception to this would only be if I felt that there was a possibility of harm or damage to the company, individual, co-workers/staff, or myself.
