I find conference calls to be overwhelming if there are more than 3 people involved. There was an occasion when I had a call scheduled with 6 colleagues from around the country. I was nervous and anxious as I awaited the time for the call. When we got underway, I had an incredibly difficult time figuring out who was speaking. Instead of listening to what they were saying, I was more concerned with who it was. I try and avoid conference calls at all cost!

Good question, terrbile answer...
Agree with Dilan. This is actually very good example of how NOT to answer this question.
Think about it, would you give this answer during actual interview? In our global society what would happen if company has hundreds of branches all other the world? How does this answer describe you as potential employee?
Being hiring manager myself, based on the answer I would conclude:
1. The person is not good with the technology as video conferencing can solve part of the problem
2. Person is not good in management as it is simple to make the meeting requirement and ask people to introduce them self each time they are speaking
Ex "It's Alex again, I want to add to your point..."
BTW, this is actually common etiquette for the conference calls.
3. Person is a quitter, instead of dealing with the problem he or she quits and avoids it "all cost" and the cost can be very big for the company.
4. Why he was anxious about conference call? What if we have production issue, would he faint or have heart attack?
5. If he “had an incredibly difficult time figuring out who was speaking” on the phone, how in the world would we expect him to understand the XYZ technology we are using?
NO HIRE!
In short, good answer would:
1. Position candidate in favorable light to employer
2. Highlight strong points about candidate
3. Never complains about his/her previous job or manager
4. Avoid strong emotional words like “at all cost”, “incredibly difficult”, ect.
