Strategy Statement:

The interviewer is interested in your managerial strategies, and how accountable you feel to the performance of your employees.

Sample Response:

I don’t like to use the term subordinate, as I see it as divisive. If I have an employee whose work is not up-to-par, my initial perspective is that perhaps I did not communicate clearly enough regarding my expectations for the job. I make it a point to reiterate to my employee those expectations. I have found that an attitude of respect is the best motivational tool I have.
