As a recruiter, it is important that you the candidate shows a level of sincerity in wanting the position they are interviewing for. A key indicator to the recruiters that you are not serious about the position is if you haven't taken the time do basic research about the company. You should be able to speak to the products or services they provide, speak to the company's vision/mission statement, and how what you've found from your research relates to why you. Showing a genuine interest in a company makes the recruiter want to give you a shot.
