Strategic Statement:
Problem analysis is most commonly an administrative/supervisory function, and the interviewer is interested in knowing how comfortable and experienced you are in that role.
Sample Response:
In expanding a program’s target audience, I had to make certain that I wasn’t diluting the program’s legitimacy while seeking to improve the services offered. As services were extended to more students (our academic program was increasing its size by 100%),
I had to resolve whether we also had to increase our staff by 100% or re-investigate the quality of our services and whether we were being as resourceful as necessary with our staff. In analyzing the situation, I realized that our delivery of services could use some ‘fine tuning’. In expanding our population by 100%, and managing an employee expansion of 35%, we were able to dedicate more resources to the actual services being offered.
