My review arrived and it was cookie-cutter identical to what was listed above. What my favorite was "The appearance is not polished, and it doesn’t say 'up and coming Sales Assistant.'" I don't want to be an up & coming Sales Assistant... That's a job I fell into due to a bad economy. Contrary to the harsh review of my resume, it has actually landed me four interviews between mid-May & the end of June. Now could the numbers be better - maybe?

In the letter above there's a line "deliver 50% higher results." What is this? I can imagine an interviewer asking, "exactly how was that measured?" Many jobs (unless they're sales based or there's event where you spot you company under-performing and you suggest implement a program that achieves higher results) don't actually translate to numbers. Remember, whatever you put in your resume must be answered in the interview. Whomever you project in the interview should show up to work on the first day. And who do employers want to hire? People.

Thanks for posting this because for a moment I looked at the review and was like, maybe I do need this expensive resume service. Then seeing this, it affirmed that if I'm going to go with anything, it's going to be with someone I've met, who knows me, who understands what I'm trying to achieve.
0 Vote(s)

Thank goodness for these answers and the example posted on this site. I, too, was just about to click on the buy the service button when my intuition suggested I search for a critique of the service.

There were just a few changes in the verbage of the "critique" I received this evening as compared to others. Thanks for saving me some money. I am unemployed and would have possibly wasted it!
0 Vote(s)

Thank you so much for all your postings. I got the same exact critique. Jobfox offered $75 discount off the $399 to redo my resume. The price was a bit steep. I thought to myself will they be able to deliver which means will I receive job leads. This was a gamble and I wasn't sure If I should. I thought to myself if I should invest my money in resume writing from Jobfox or any services out there? There are a lot of resume services that are money hungry and take advantage of so many unemployed people. They are money driven and schemers. They are not there to help. We need to be reminded that they use computer generated software to critique the resumes. It would have been different response to each individual if this were a live person.
1 Vote(s)

Thanks so much for posting this - my Jobfox expert resume critic's "direct and to the point" comments were exactly that my resume was pudding and not creme brulee - I have been told by a hiring professional that of 200+ resumes he had reviewed for a position, mine was in the top ten - not the boring expose that the "personal" review by a real Jobfox critic had claimed it was - my suspicion is that the Jobfox critique is computer generated and designed to demoralize you to convince you to buy their product - not what a cash strapped jobseeker needs in this economy - I will view all Jobfox services and postings with a very critical perspective from here on out.

I also got the exactly same critique. It seems to me that they're just providing lip service. The person that supposedly reviewed my resume was gone for the rest of the week so I couldn't follow-up with her on the critique that she provided. So instead I got the front desk operator which after she answered a couple of my questions she immediately asked me... so do you want to purchase the service.... What a turn off. It seemed to me that all they care was to get my credit card.

I did like jobfox's approach to matching your skills with available jobs and the survey you have to fill out to create a simple graphical description of your job's skills and responsibilities (they call it career web page).

I'm considering Monster.com because I've heard better results with them than with theladders and now jobfox appears to be just another bait and switch.

has anybody found some feedback on Monster's resuer writing service?

That isn't very good even as a "free" resume critique. Look around before you spend any money on a free resume critique. There are more bad "experts" out there than there are authentic resume writers. It is a lot to invest so choose wisely.
